The 0ZCC0300FF2B from Bel Fuse is a PTC resettable fuse in a 0402 chip package, rated at 0.3A hold current and 0.6A trip current with 16V DC maximum voltage. Part of the 0ZCC series, this device uses polymeric positive temperature coefficient technology to provide self-resetting overcurrent protection. Under normal operation, the device presents low resistance (1.5 to 10 Ohms). When an overcurrent event occurs, the self-heating effect raises the device temperature above its Curie point, causing a dramatic increase in resistance that limits fault current to a safe level. After the fault is removed and the device cools, it automatically returns to its low-resistance state.

The 0ZCC0300FF2B uses a polymeric PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) material consisting of a polymer matrix loaded with conductive carbon particles. At normal operating temperatures, the carbon particles form conductive chains through the polymer, resulting in low resistance (1.5-10 Ohms). When an overcurrent event heats the device above its switching temperature, the polymer expands and disrupts the conductive carbon chains, causing resistance to increase by several orders of magnitude. This high-resistance state limits the fault current to a low level. After the fault is cleared and the device cools below the switching temperature, the polymer contracts, the carbon chains reform, and the device returns to its low-resistance state automatically.
