The Schurter 1275.9043 is a surface mount fuse from the UMT-W series featuring a super-time-lag (TT) characteristic and ceramic body construction. The impermeable ceramic design makes it suitable for use as a fail-safe device in intrinsically safe applications according to ATEX and IECEx requirements. With a very high melting integral and precisely defined melting times, the UMT-W provides reliable overcurrent protection in applications with significant inrush currents. The surface mount package enables automated PCB assembly in compact industrial and automotive designs.

The 1275.9043 operates as a super-time-lag overcurrent protective device. 1) Fuse Element Subsystem: A specially engineered element within the ceramic body has a super-time-lag (TT) characteristic, tolerating very high inrush currents and pulse loads without nuisance tripping. The element design provides a very high melting integral (I2t). 2) Arc Suppression Subsystem: The ceramic body with internal filling provides superior arc quenching compared to glass tube designs, enabling higher breaking capacity. 3) Sealed Construction Subsystem: The impermeable ceramic body prevents potting compound ingress, making it suitable for intrinsic safety applications where the device must maintain its protective function even when encapsulated. 4) SMD Termination Subsystem: Nickel/tin-plated terminals enable reliable reflow soldering for automated assembly.
