The APT1608SGC from Kingbright is a super bright green SMD chip LED in an industry-standard 0603 (1608 metric) package, using Gallium Phosphide (GaP) technology. Emitting at a dominant wavelength of 568 nm with 12 mcd typical luminous intensity at 20 mA, this LED provides a wide 150-degree viewing angle suitable for backlight and indication applications where broad visibility is required. The compact 0603 footprint (1.6 x 0.8 mm) is ideal for high-density PCB layouts in portable and space-constrained electronic designs. With a typical forward voltage of 2.2V and maximum power dissipation of 62.5 mW, the LED is compatible with common 3.3V logic supply rails through a current-limiting resistor.

The APT1608SGC uses a Gallium Phosphide (GaP) LED die that emits green light at 568 nm dominant wavelength when forward current flows through the PN junction. In GaP LEDs, the light emission results from radiative recombination of electron-hole pairs at nitrogen impurity sites within the crystal lattice. The GaP material has an indirect bandgap, which produces a relatively broad emission spectrum (30 nm spectral half-width) centered at 565 nm peak wavelength. The water-clear epoxy encapsulant and flat-top lens design provide the wide 150-degree viewing angle by minimizing internal reflection and maximizing light extraction in all lateral directions. The compact 0603 package uses a reflector cup to direct light upward from the die surface.
