The CR-12JL4—4R7 from Bourns is a 4.7Ω ±5% carbon film through-hole resistor rated at 1/4W (0.25W). Part of the CR series, this axial-lead resistor uses carbon film technology deposited on a ceramic rod substrate, providing a cost-effective solution for general-purpose current limiting, damping, and bias applications. The through-hole axial package is easy to handle and solder manually, making it ideal for prototyping, breadboarding, and legacy through-hole PCB designs. The 4.7Ω value is commonly used in audio damping, power supply snubber networks, and low-value current limiting.

The CR-12JL4—4R7 uses a carbon film resistive element deposited on a ceramic rod substrate. A thin layer of carbon is deposited on the ceramic surface and then a spiral groove is cut to increase the effective path length and achieve the target 4.7Ω resistance. The carbon film provides a stable resistive element with a moderate temperature coefficient of ±350ppm/°C. End caps with axial leads are attached, and the assembly is coated with an epoxy resin for environmental protection.
