The ETQP3M6R8KVN uses a metal composite (iron-based alloy powder) core that provides a soft saturation characteristic, gradually rolling off inductance with increasing DC bias rather than the abrupt saturation of ferrite cores. This soft saturation offers design margin under transient overload conditions. The composite material also has lower core loss than traditional iron powder at high switching frequencies, reducing temperature rise and improving converter efficiency.
