The Samsung ODD15F32S700X (AA-S738) is an automotive-grade eMMC 5.1 embedded flash memory device with 32GB capacity. It combines Samsung NAND flash memory and an integrated MMC controller in a 153-FBGA package. The device supports the HS400 high-speed interface mode for maximum sequential bandwidth, with read speeds up to 300 MB/s and write speeds up to 150 MB/s. It is AEC-Q100 Grade 2/3 qualified, ensuring reliable operation in automotive environments with extended temperature ranges from -40 to 95 degrees C. The integrated Flash Translation Layer (FTL) manages wear leveling, bad block management, and error correction code (ECC), insulating the host from NAND technology complexities. Samsung’s dedicated automotive manufacturing lines ensure long-term product supply and support matching automotive life cycles.

The ODD15F32S700X integrates Samsung NAND flash memory and an MMC controller in a single BGA package. The MMC controller interfaces with the host via the MMC protocol (v5.1) using an 8-bit data bus, command line, and clock. In HS400 mode, both data and command lines operate in DDR mode at up to 200 MHz, achieving up to 400 MB/s theoretical bandwidth. The internal Flash Translation Layer (FTL) manages the NAND flash by performing wear leveling (distributing writes across blocks to extend lifespan), bad block management (remapping failed blocks to spare blocks), and error correction (using hardware ECC to detect and correct bit errors). The device supports hardware partitions including two Boot Areas (4MB each), an RPMB (Replay Protected Memory Block) for secure storage, and the User Area. The Command Queue feature enables concurrent command processing for improved random I/O performance. Power Off Notification protects data integrity during unexpected power loss.
