The SS210ATR is a 1A, 100V Schottky barrier rectifier diode in an SMA (DO-214AC) surface-mount package. Schottky diodes use a metal-semiconductor (Schottky) junction instead of a P-N junction, which eliminates minority carrier storage and provides near-zero reverse recovery time. The low 0.55V typical forward voltage drop at 1A significantly reduces conduction losses compared to standard silicon rectifiers (0.9-1.1V), improving power supply efficiency. The 100V reverse voltage rating makes the SS210 suitable for moderate-voltage applications including switch-mode power supply output rectification, DC-DC converter free-wheeling paths, and reverse polarity protection in battery-powered devices. The SMA package provides a compact footprint with adequate power dissipation for 1A applications.

The Schottky diode uses a metal-semiconductor (Schottky) junction instead of a P-N junction. Majority carrier conduction eliminates the minority carrier storage that causes reverse recovery delay in P-N diodes, resulting in near-zero reverse recovery time. This makes Schottky diodes ideal for high-frequency switching applications. The trade-off is higher reverse leakage current compared to P-N diodes, but the low forward voltage drop (0.55V typical at 1A) significantly reduces conduction losses in power supply applications.
