The STM32F412VGT6 is based on the high-performance Arm Cortex-M4 32-bit RISC core operating at up to 100 MHz, featuring a single-precision Floating Point Unit (FPU), full set of DSP instructions, and a Memory Protection Unit (MPU). It belongs to STMicroelectronics’ STM32 Dynamic Efficiency product line, which combines power efficiency, performance, and integration. The device incorporates 1 MB of Flash memory and 256 kB of SRAM. A key innovation is the Batch Acquisition Mode (BAM), which allows data exchange through communication peripherals while the CPU remains in power-saving mode. The ART Accelerator enables 0-wait-state execution from Flash memory at 100 MHz. The STM32F412VGT6 is offered in a 100-pin LQFP package with 81 I/Os.

The STM32F412VGT6 operates through four key subsystems:

1. Core & Memory: The Cortex-M4 with FPU executes instructions at 100 MHz with 125 DMIPS performance. The ART Accelerator uses an instruction cache and prefetch buffer to achieve 0-wait-state Flash execution. The bus matrix connects the core, DMA controllers, and peripherals to Flash, SRAM, and external memory interfaces (FSMC, Quad-SPI).

2. Power Management: Dynamic power scaling achieves 112 µA/MHz in Run mode. Stop mode reduces consumption to 18 µA (Flash deep power down) while maintaining SRAM content and enabling fast wakeup. Standby mode draws only 2.4 µA. The BAM mode allows DMA transfers while the CPU sleeps.

3. Analog & Timer Subsystem: A 12-bit ADC with 2.4 MSPS sampling rate supports up to 16 channels. Two DFSDM filters enable digital signal processing from external sigma-delta modulators. Seventeen timers including 32-bit general-purpose and motor-control PWM timers provide flexible timing functions.

4. Communication Interfaces: The device integrates 4x I2C (one Fast-Mode Plus), 5x SPI (up to 50 Mbit/s), 4x USART (up to 12.5 Mbit/s), 2x CAN 2.0B, 1x USB 2.0 OTG FS, 1x SDIO, and 2x full-duplex I2S for audio applications.
