The Microchip USB2412-DZK is a low-power, single Transaction Translator (STT) USB 2.0 hub controller IC with two downstream ports designed for embedded USB applications. It supports low-speed, full-speed, and high-speed downstream devices on all enabled ports. Optimized for minimal bill-of-material and low-cost designs, the USB2412 features fully integrated USB termination, built-in default configuration requiring no external setup, and 4kV ESD protection. The device is ideal for expanding USB connectivity in space-constrained embedded systems.

The USB2412-DZK operates as a USB 2.0 hub between a single upstream host port and two downstream device ports. 1) Upstream Port Subsystem: Connects to the USB host via D+ and D- differential pair, supporting Hi-Speed (480Mbps), Full-Speed (12Mbps), and Low-Speed (1.5Mbps) signaling. 2) Transaction Translator Subsystem: The single TT converts high-speed split transactions from the upstream port into full-speed or low-speed transactions for downstream devices, enabling mixed-speed device operation. 3) Downstream Port Subsystem: Two ports with integrated termination and PHYBoost for signal quality optimization, each supporting connect/disconnect detection. 4) Configuration Subsystem: Built-in default configuration eliminates the need for external EEPROM or ROM; PortMap and PortSwap features allow flexible pin assignment routing.
