The AM186ER is a high-performance embedded derivative of the Intel 80C186. The CPU core executes the 8086/8088 instruction set with 16-bit data bus. Integrated peripheral functions replace external 8259 PIC, 8237 DMA, and 8254 Timer chips. The two DMA channels transfer data between I/O and memory without CPU intervention. UARTs support synchronous and asynchronous serial communication with programmable baud rates. Chip-select unit generates programmable CS signals for external device addressing.
