The AZ1117IH-3.3TRG1 is a 1A fixed 3.3V LDO linear regulator from Diodes Incorporated with maximum input voltage of 15V, 1.1V dropout at 1A, in a SOT-89 package, suitable for embedded system 3.3V power supply.

The AZ1117IH-3.3TRG1 is a 1 A low-dropout linear regulator from Diodes Incorporated with a fixed 3.3 V output in an SOT-223 surface-mount package. It features a low dropout voltage of 1.1 V typical at 1 A load, input voltage range from 4.7 V to 15 V, and output voltage accuracy of plus or minus 1 percent at 25 C. The device includes over-current protection, 165 C thermal shutdown with automatic recovery, and safe operating area protection for the output transistor. With 70 dB PSRR at 120 Hz and only 6 mA quiescent current, it is pin-compatible with AMS1117 and LM1117-3.3 for direct drop-in replacement.

The AZ1117IH-3.3TRG1 uses a PNP pass transistor in a low-dropout configuration where the pass element operates in saturation rather than the linear region, reducing the minimum input-output differential (dropout voltage) to approximately 1.1 V at full 1 A load. An error amplifier compares a fraction of the output voltage (sensed through an internal resistor divider) with an internal bandgap reference voltage of approximately 1.25 V. Any deviation drives the PNP base current to restore regulation. The internal current limit circuit monitors the pass transistor current and reduces the base drive when the output current exceeds approximately 1.35 A, preventing damage during overload or short-circuit conditions. The thermal shutdown circuit monitors the die temperature and disables the pass transistor when junction temperature exceeds 165 C, automatically re-enabling the output once the temperature drops by 25 C of hysteresis. A 10 uF tantalum or 22 uF ceramic output capacitor is required for stability and to prevent oscillation.
