Principio de funcionamiento

The expander manages SAS frame routing between initiator and target devices using a self-configuring routing table. It implements SMP (Serial Management Protocol) for topology discovery and expander configuration. Each of the 36 PHYs independently negotiates link rate (1.5/3/6 Gbps). Wide ports combine multiple PHYs for increased bandwidth. The expander forwards SMP, SSP, and STP frames based on destination SAS address routing.
