The MT25QL128ABA8ESF-0SIT is a 128Mbit (16MB) Serial NOR Flash from Micron’s MT25QL series, supporting Standard, Dual, and Quad SPI interfaces at up to 133MHz clock. The Quad SPI interface enables 4x read throughput for execute-in-place (XIP) boot code execution directly from flash without copying to RAM. The 1.8V operation suits low-power embedded and mobile applications. Uniform 4KB sector architecture with 32KB and 64KB block erase options provides flexible erase granularity. Advanced security features include 512-bit OTP and password-based protection.

The MT25QL128 operates as a multi-I/O SPI flash. In Quad SPI mode, data is transferred on all four data lines (IO0-IO3) simultaneously, achieving 4x throughput compared to standard SPI. The flash supports XIP (execute-in-place) where the CPU fetches instructions directly from the flash without DMA to RAM. Memory is organized into 256-byte pages, 4KB sectors (uniform), and 64KB blocks. Write operations use page program (256 bytes) with internal high-voltage generation. Erase operations set bits to ‘1’ at sector, block, or chip granularity. The device supports Read-While-Write in separate bank regions for concurrent read and program operations.
