The VY2103M63Y5US6TV0 from Vishay BC Components is a 10000 pF safety ceramic disc capacitor from the VY2 series. Dual-rated for X1 (440 VAC across-the-line) and Y2 (300 VAC line-to-ground) applications, it is designed for EMI suppression in power supply inputs. The Y5U dielectric provides high capacitance density in a 16 mm diameter disc package. Safety agency approved, it meets the requirements for use in primary-to-secondary and line-to-ground EMI filtering in consumer and industrial electronics.

The VY2 series safety capacitor uses a ceramic disc dielectric with Y5U temperature characteristic ( +22%/-56% over -40 to +85 degC). The disc construction provides a wide creepage and clearance distance between terminals, essential for safety-rated applications. When connected across AC power lines (X1), it shunts high-frequency EMI noise to the neutral line. When connected from line to ground (Y2), it diverts EMI noise to the equipment ground. The safety rating ensures the capacitor will not fail in a manner that creates a fire or shock hazard, even under transient overvoltage conditions.
