The SFH4715S from ams-OSRAM is a high-power infrared LED in the OSLON Black 3535 ceramic package, optimized for 850nm IR illumination. The double-stack emitter technology delivers 770mW/sr typical radiant intensity at 1A with 1360mW total flux. The 850nm centroid wavelength matches peak sensitivity of CMOS image sensors. 10ns rise time supports high-speed pulsed operation. AEC-Q101 qualified with 2kV ESD protection for automotive environments.

The SFH4715S uses a double-stack thin-film InGaAlAs emitter structure where two epitaxial LED layers are stacked vertically and connected in series. This doubles the voltage drop while maintaining the same current, effectively doubling the optical output per unit current density. The ceramic substrate with Au-plated heat slug provides 6K/W thermal resistance for efficient junction cooling. The integrated ESD Zener diode protects against electrostatic discharge during handling.
