The Nexperia 74HC153D is a dual 4-input multiplexer in an SO16 package. The device contains two independent 4-to-1 multiplexers that share common select inputs (S0 and S1). Each multiplexer has four data inputs (nI0 to nI3), an active LOW strobe input (nOE), and a single output (nY). The select inputs determine which of the four data inputs is connected to the output. When the strobe is HIGH, the corresponding output is forced LOW regardless of the data inputs. The device operates from 2.0V to 6.0V with ±5.2 mA output drive and non-inverting data path. It is specified from -40°C to +125°C and complies with JEDEC standards.

The 74HC153D implements two independent 4-to-1 multiplexers. Each multiplexer uses a 2-to-4 decoder controlled by the common select inputs S0 and S1 to select one of four data inputs. When S0=0 and S1=0, input I0 is selected; when S0=1 and S1=0, input I1 is selected; and so on. The selected input is passed non-inverted to the output (Y). The active LOW strobe (OE) provides an override — when HIGH, the output is forced to LOW regardless of the selected input. This is useful for disabling the multiplexer output or for creating additional logic functions. The common select inputs allow both multiplexers to be controlled simultaneously, making the device ideal for parallel data bus routing where two data streams need to be selected in unison. The non-inverting architecture preserves signal polarity.
