The ADP123AUJZ-R7 is an adjustable-output, low quiescent current, low dropout linear regulator from Analog Devices. It operates from 2.3 V to 5.5 V input and provides up to 300 mA output current with an adjustable output voltage from 0.8 V to 5.0 V set by an external resistor divider. The 85 mV dropout voltage at 300 mA and 45 µA no-load quiescent current make it ideal for battery-operated applications. The device is stable with tiny 1 µF ceramic input and output capacitors.

The ADP123 uses a PMOS pass transistor to achieve low dropout voltage. An error amplifier compares the output voltage (sensed through the external feedback divider connected to the ADJ pin) with a 0.5 V internal reference, driving the PMOS gate for regulation. The internal soft start circuit limits inrush current during startup with a 350 µs ramp time. An enable (EN) pin provides shutdown control with less than 1 µA shutdown current. Short-circuit and thermal overload protection circuits prevent damage under fault conditions.
