The MIC5209-2.5YSTR is a 500mA low-noise LDO voltage regulator from Microchip with a fixed 2.5V output and 1% accuracy. Designed for noise-sensitive applications such as FPGA core supplies, DDR termination, and precision analog circuits, it features ultra-low dropout voltage and ultra-low output noise with external bypass capacitor. The 2.5V output is commonly used as FPGA core voltage, DLL supply, and ADC/DAC voltage reference. The SOT-223-3 package provides excellent thermal dissipation.

The MIC5209 uses a P-channel MOSFET pass element with an error amplifier and 1% bandgap reference. The bypass capacitor on the BYP pin filters reference noise for ultra-low output noise. At light loads, the dropout voltage drops to just 10mV, making it ideal for battery-powered applications where input voltage closely approaches the output. Reverse battery protection, current limiting, and thermal shutdown provide comprehensive fault protection without external components.
