The TPS54618C-Q1 is an automotive-grade 6 A synchronous step-down converter from Texas Instruments, qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 0 for operation up to 150°C junction temperature. The device integrates both high-side and low-side MOSFETs in a compact 20-VQFN package, minimizing external component count. Using D-CAP2 control mode, the device provides fast transient response with no external compensation components. The 1 MHz switching frequency allows small inductor and capacitor values. Features include power good output, programmable UVLO, pre-bias startup, and comprehensive protection.

The TPS54618C-Q1 uses TI’s D-CAP2 control mode, a proprietary emulated ripple control architecture that provides fast transient response without external compensation. The internal ripple injection network synthesizes the output voltage ripple information, which the PWM comparator uses for regulation. The integrated 19 mΩ high-side PMOS and 12 mΩ low-side NMOS MOSFETs switch at 1 MHz to deliver up to 6 A output current. The error amplifier compares the FB pin voltage against a 0.6 V internal reference. Over-current protection is implemented by sensing the low-side MOSFET voltage during the off-time. The PGOOD pin indicates when the output is within regulation.
