The EN80C186XL20 from Intel is a 16-bit embedded microprocessor from the 80C186XL family, operating at 20MHz with 5V supply. Based on the 8086/8088 architecture with 20-bit address bus (1MB address space) and 16-bit data bus, it integrates a DMA controller, programmable interrupt controller, three 16-bit timers, and programmable chip-select logic on-chip. The XL variant provides lower power consumption through CMOS process. Housed in a 68-pin LCC package, it is now produced by Rochester Electronics as an EOL continuation product.

The 80C186XL integrates the 8086 CPU core with commonly needed peripheral functions on a single chip. The CPU executes the 8086 instruction set with a 6-byte prefetch queue for improved throughput. The integrated DMA controller provides two high-speed channels for memory-to-memory and peripheral-to-memory data transfer without CPU intervention. The programmable interrupt controller handles internal and external interrupt sources with priority resolution. The three 16-bit timers can be used for real-time clock, baud rate generation, and event counting. The chip-select logic generates memory and I/O chip select signals based on programmable address ranges.
