The NXL16.000AG08F-DKAB6-2 from NDK is a 16MHz AT-cut quartz crystal in HC49/SMD package. 16MHz is one of the most commonly used MCU clock frequencies (e.g., STM32, nRF52, USB devices). With 10ppm tolerance and 20ppm stability, it provides reliable clock reference for embedded systems.

The AT-cut quartz crystal resonates at its fundamental frequency of 16MHz when placed in the oscillator circuit. The inverting amplifier in the MCU, combined with the crystal and two load capacitors, forms a Pierce oscillator. The crystal’s equivalent circuit consists of a series RLC branch (motional arm) in parallel with a capacitor (shunt capacitance). The 12pF load capacitance must match the crystal specification for correct frequency operation.
