The P6SMB27A is a 600W unidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse’s P6SMB series, designed to protect 24V nominal DC power rails and VCC buses from voltage transients. With a reverse standoff voltage of 23.1V and maximum clamping voltage of 37.5V, it offers excellent protection margin for 18V-24V industrial and telecom supply systems. The 16.3A peak pulse current rating provides substantial surge energy handling capability.

Under normal reverse-bias conditions below 23.1V, the P6SMB27A presents very high impedance with leakage current below 1μA. When a positive voltage transient exceeds the breakdown voltage (25.7-28.4V), the avalanche junction rapidly conducts and clamps the voltage to 37.5V maximum at the rated peak pulse current of 16.3A. The unidirectional configuration also provides forward diode conduction. After the transient, the device automatically returns to its blocking state.
