The RC0402FR-075K6L from YAGEO is a member of the RC_L series of general-purpose thick film chip resistors. Built on a high-grade ceramic substrate, the resistor employs internal metal electrodes at each end to make contact with the thick film resistive element. The RC_L series covers resistance values from 1Ω to 10MΩ across E24 and E96 decade values, available in tolerances of ±0.1%, ±0.5%, ±1%, and ±5%. With a moisture-resistant coating and MSL 1 rating, the RC0402FR-075K6L delivers reliable performance across a broad temperature range of -55°C to +155°C, making it suitable for both commercial and industrial environments. The RC0402FR-075K6L operates as a passive linear resistor based on thick film technology. The resistive element is formed by screen-printing a ruthenium-oxide-based paste onto a high-purity alumina ceramic substrate, which is then fired at high temperature to create a stable resistive layer. The resistance value is determined by the composition of the paste, the printed geometry, and the firing profile. Internal metal electrodes (silver-palladium alloy) are applied at both ends to provide low-resistance terminations for surface-mount soldering. A protective glass overcoat is applied on top of the resistive element to provide mechanical protection, moisture resistance, and environmental shielding. When a voltage is applied across the two terminations, current flows through the resistive layer according to Ohm’s law (I = V/R), dissipating power as heat. The ±100 ppm/°C temperature coefficient indicates that the resistance value will shift by approximately 100 parts per million per degree Celsius of temperature change, which is typical for thick film resistors and acceptable for general-purpose applications.
