The REC5-2412DRW/H2/A/M from RECOM Power is a 5W isolated regulated DC-DC converter with 24V nominal input (9-36VDC range) and dual ±12VDC output at ±210mA. The 2kVDC isolation voltage (H2 suffix) provides reinforced isolation for IGBT gate driver and medical applications. The 5-side-shielded metal case (M suffix) minimizes radiated EMI. With 84-85% efficiency, ±0.6% load regulation, and continuous short-circuit protection, it meets EN 60601-1 medical equipment safety standards.

The REC5 uses a flyback converter topology with a planar transformer. The 24V nominal input (9-36V range) is converted through a high-frequency switching stage (120kHz min) to dual ±12V regulated outputs via separate secondary windings and feedback control loops. The 2kVDC isolation barrier between primary and secondary provides galvanic separation for safety-critical applications. Continuous short-circuit protection uses hiccup-mode current limiting that auto-recovers when the fault clears.
