The US1MFL-TP is a 1A, 1000V ultra-fast recovery surface-mount rectifier diode from Micro Commercial Components (MCC) in an FL flat lead package. With a 35ns typical reverse recovery time, it is optimized for high-frequency switching power supply output rectification and free-wheeling applications where fast recovery reduces switching losses and improves efficiency. The 1000V voltage rating supports off-line and high-voltage converter topologies. The FL (flat lead) package offers lower profile and better thermal performance than traditional SMA packages.

The ultra-fast recovery diode uses platinum or similar lifetime control doping to create recombination centers that rapidly sweep out stored minority carriers during turn-off. This reduces the reverse recovery time to 35ns (typical) compared to 500ns for standard recovery diodes. During forward conduction, the diode presents a low forward voltage drop (1.25V max). During reverse recovery, the brief current flow (Irr) dissipates energy proportional to trr x Irr; reducing trr minimizes this switching loss, improving converter efficiency at high switching frequencies (100kHz+).
