The AFBR-57D9AMZ from Broadcom is a 2.5 Gbps SFP fiber optic transceiver for multimode fiber at 850 nm wavelength. It reaches up to 500 m on 50/125 µm fiber and is SFP MSA compliant for hot-pluggable use in switches and routers.

Principio de funcionamiento

An 850 nm VCSEL laser transmitter converts serial electrical data to optical pulses launched into multimode fiber via LC connector. A PIN photodiode receiver with transimpedance amplifier detects incoming optical signals and converts them back to differential electrical data. SFP MSA I2C interface provides digital diagnostics (DOM) for real-time monitoring of temperature, power, and bias current.
