The MK23-66-BV16088 from Standex-Meder is a molded SMD reed sensor with Form A (SPST-NO) contacts. The hermetically sealed ferromagnetic reed contacts close when a magnetic field of sufficient strength (~160 AT) is applied. 200V/0.5A switching capability suits security sensors, proximity detection, and position sensing. No power is required to maintain the contact state.

Two ferromagnetic reed blades are hermetically sealed in a glass envelope filled with inert gas. The blade tips overlap with a small gap. When an external magnetic field exceeds the operate threshold (~160 AT), the blades magnetize and attract, closing the contact. When the field decreases below the release threshold, the spring force separates the blades.
