The PIC16F870T-I/SSG is a 28-pin, 8-bit CMOS Flash microcontroller from Microchip based on the Mid-Range PIC architecture. It features 2K x 14 words of Flash program memory, 128 bytes of data RAM, and 64 bytes of data EEPROM. The device includes a 10-bit 5-channel ADC, a Capture/Compare/PWM module, a USART with 9-bit address detection, two 8-bit timers, one 16-bit timer, and In-Circuit Serial Programming capability. The G suffix indicates a programmed device variant.

The PIC16F870 uses Microchip Mid-Range core with Harvard architecture, separate program and data memory buses, and a 2-stage instruction pipeline. Most instructions execute in a single cycle (200 ns at 20 MHz). The 8-level hardware stack supports subroutine nesting. Interrupts from up to 11 sources are handled through a single interrupt vector at 0004h. The device supports In-Circuit Serial Programming (ICSP) via two pins, enabling firmware updates without removing the device from the circuit.
