The 0.8 uVrms output noise from 10 Hz to 100 kHz is among the lowest available, ensuring minimal phase noise contribution to VCOs and PLLs. The 72 dB PSRR at 1 kHz effectively rejects input supply ripple, reducing the need for pre-filtering. The 1A output current supports moderate-power loads including FPGA I/O banks and processor cores. The 120 mV dropout voltage at 1A allows efficient regulation from low headroom supplies. The 72 dB PSRR is primarily determined by the error amplifier’s open-loop gain at low frequencies. At higher frequencies (>100 kHz), the PSRR rolls off as the amplifier bandwidth is exceeded, but the output capacitor’s impedance helps maintain some rejection. The 120 mV dropout at 1A is set by the PMOS on-resistance (Ron = 120 mOhm). The soft-start function uses the NR capacitor to slowly ramp the reference voltage, limiting inrush current.
