The HCPL-7800A-500E is a high-performance optically isolated amplifier manufactured by Broadcom (formerly Avago Technologies). It provides galvanic isolation of up to 3750Vrms while delivering precision analog signal amplification with a fixed gain of 8V/V and 100kHz bandwidth. The HCPL-7800A uses sigma-delta modulation technology combined with optical coupling to achieve isolated signal transmission. The input side amplifies and converts the analog signal into a digital bitstream, which is then transmitted across the optical isolation barrier. On the output side, the digital signal is reconstructed back into an analog output with 8V/V gain. This approach provides high common-mode rejection and excellent transient immunity.
