The IR1155STRPBF is Infineon’s µPFC (micro-PFC) controller IC featuring proprietary One Cycle Control (OCC) technology for active power factor correction. Operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM) with average current mode control, the IR1155S achieves near-unity power factor and low total harmonic distortion while dramatically reducing component count compared to traditional PFC solutions. The switching frequency is user-programmable from 48kHz to 200kHz via a single capacitor. The device integrates comprehensive protection features including output overvoltage protection, cycle-by-cycle peak current limit, open-loop protection, VCC undervoltage lockout, and programmable soft-start. With micropower startup current of only 175µA and sleep mode capability, the IR1155STRPBF helps meet strict standby power regulations.

The IR1155STRPBF uses One Cycle Control (OCC) technology to achieve power factor correction. This control method forces the input current to follow the input voltage waveform by controlling the duty cycle such that the average input current is proportional to the input voltage within each switching cycle. A resettable integrator generates a PWM ramp that tracks the voltage error signal (Vm) each cycle. The amplified current sense signal is subtracted from Vm and compared with the PWM ramp to determine the duty cycle. This approach eliminates the need for an external multiplier and provides inherent feed-forward from line voltage variations. The 1.5A totem-pole gate driver directly drives external power MOSFETs with internal clamping at 13V.
