The IR2085STRPBF is a self-oscillating half-bridge gate driver IC from Infineon Technologies, designed specifically for 36V to 75V half-bridge DC-bus converter applications. This device integrates a fixed 50% duty cycle oscillator with a high-side and low-side gate driver in a compact SOIC-8 package, drastically reducing component count and board space compared to discrete solutions. The switching frequency is user-programmable via an external RT/CT network, with each channel operating at the oscillator frequency. Dead time is adjustable from 50ns to 200ns through the timing capacitor selection. The IR2085S also features integrated overcurrent protection, undervoltage lockout, and soft-start functionality for reliable operation.

The IR2085STRPBF integrates a 50% duty cycle oscillator with a high-voltage half-bridge driver. The oscillator uses an external timing resistor (RT) and timing capacitor (CT) to set the switching frequency, where fOSC = 1/(2×RT×CT). The oscillator alternately drives the high-side and low-side outputs with 50% duty cycle. The CT value also determines the dead time between high-side and low-side transitions. Internal soft-start circuitry gradually increases pulse width during power-up and after each overcurrent event. The high-side driver uses bootstrap technique to drive the high-side MOSFET, with the floating channel rated for up to 100V offset voltage. Overcurrent protection is implemented via the CS pin, which monitors the current sense signal.
