The IR21844STRPBF is a high-voltage, high-speed power MOSFET and IGBT driver with dependent high-side and low-side referenced output channels from Infineon Technologies. Built on proprietary HVIC and latch-immune CMOS technology, this device provides a rugged monolithic half-bridge driver solution with programmable dead time. A single input pin (IN/SD) controls both channels with complementary output and built-in cross-conduction prevention logic. Dead time is user-programmable from 0.4µs to 5µs via an external resistor on the DT pin, offering flexibility for different power devices and switching frequencies. Separate VSS logic ground pin allows ±5V offset between logic and power grounds for improved noise immunity in high-current applications.

The IR21844STRPBF operates as a complementary-output half-bridge gate driver with programmable dead time. When the IN input is high, the low-side output (LO) is high and the high-side output (HO) is low. When IN goes low, after a delay determined by the programmed dead time, LO goes low and HO goes high. The dead time is set by an external resistor connected to the DT pin, with a range from approximately 400ns to 5µs. The high-side driver uses bootstrap technique with a floating channel rated for up to 600V offset voltage. The SD function is integrated into the IN pin – when pulled below the low-level threshold, both outputs eventually go low with the low side turning off first. UVLO circuitry monitors both VCC and the bootstrap supply.
