Product Overview

The IRS2101STRPBF is a 600V high-side and low-side gate driver IC from Infineon Technologies’ EiceDRIVER™ family. Packaged in an 8-lead SOIC-8N package, this high-voltage, high-speed power MOSFET and IGBT driver features independent high-side and low-side referenced output channels. Proprietary HVIC and latch-immune CMOS technologies enable a rugged monolithic construction. The logic input is compatible with standard CMOS or LSTTL outputs, down to 3.3V logic. The output drivers feature a high pulse current buffer stage designed for minimum driver cross-conduction. The floating channel can be used to drive an N-channel power MOSFET or IGBT in the high-side configuration, operating up to 600V.

The IRS2101STRPBF is a member of Infineon’s EiceDRIVER™ family of high-voltage gate driver ICs. This 600V high-side and low-side gate driver is designed to drive both MOSFETs and IGBTs in half-bridge configurations. Featuring independent high-side and low-side output channels, the device uses Infineon’s proprietary HVIC (High-Voltage Integrated Circuit) technology and latch-immune CMOS processes for robust monolithic construction. The floating high-side channel operates up to 600V offset voltage and is fully dV/dt tolerant, making it suitable for demanding switching applications. The logic input accepts signals down to 3.3V, providing compatibility with modern microcontrollers and DSPs. With matched propagation delays (50ns max) between channels and outputs in phase with inputs, the IRS2101 ensures precise timing control. Undervoltage lockout (UVLO) is provided for both the low-side supply (VCC) and the high-side bootstrap supply (VBS), preventing under-driven gate voltages. Available in a compact SOIC-8N package in tape and reel format, the IRS2101STRPBF is ideal for a wide range of applications including motor control, SMPS, home appliances, power tools, and industrial automation systems.

The IRS2101STRPBF operates as a half-bridge gate driver using high-voltage level-shift technology. Its functional architecture includes: 1) Input Logic Stage: Accepts CMOS/LSTTL compatible logic signals (down to 3.3V) and processes them through input buffers and Schmitt triggers for noise immunity. The two independent input channels (HIN and LIN) control the high-side and low-side outputs respectively. 2) High-Voltage Level Shifter: A proprietary HVIC junction-isolated (JI) level shifter translates the low-voltage control signals from the input logic to the floating high-side domain. This enables the high-side output to operate at up to 600V offset voltage while maintaining signal integrity. The level shifter is designed to be fully dV/dt immune and tolerant of negative transient voltages. 3) Output Driver Stages: Both high-side (HO) and low-side (LO) outputs feature high pulse current buffer stages optimized for minimum cross-conduction. The low-side source current is 290mA typical and sink current is 600mA typical, providing fast charging and discharging of MOSFET/IGBT gate capacitances. 4) Protection and Monitoring: Undervoltage lockout (UVLO) circuits monitor both VCC (low-side supply) and VBS (high-side bootstrap supply). If either supply drops below the UVLO threshold, the corresponding output is disabled to prevent under-driven gate conditions that could cause excessive power dissipation in the power devices.
