Product Overview
The TCAN1042DRQ1 from TI is an AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified CAN FD transceiver supporting data rates up to 5 Mbps. A VIO pin enables direct connection to 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, or 5V microcontrollers without level translation.

Working Principle
Differential driver transmits CANH/CANL with dominant/recessive states. VIO pin sets the logic level for TXD/RXD pins, matching the MCU I/O voltage. Receiver converts bus differential voltage to single-ended logic. Standby mode reduces current to <15 µA with remote wake via bus dominant. ±58V bus fault protection survives ISO 11898-2 worst-case shorts.
Applications
- Automotive CAN FD gateway
- ADAS sensor bus
- Vehicle body control
- Industrial CAN FD
