The 53398-0271 from Molex is a 2-circuit, 0.8mm pitch FPC/FFC connector from the Easy-On series, featuring top-contact configuration with flip-lock actuator. The ultra-low 1.2mm profile height above the PCB makes it ideal for thin-profile portable devices such as smartphones and wearables. The Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) design with flip-lock actuator allows easy FPC insertion without contact stress, and the rotary lock provides secure retention with tactile and visual confirmation. The 0.5A per contact current rating and 50V voltage rating are suitable for signal-level FPC connections including display, camera, and touch panel interfaces.

The 53398-0271 uses a flip-lock (rotary) actuator mechanism for FPC retention. When the actuator is in the open position, the contacts are spread apart, allowing the FPC to slide in without friction (Zero Insertion Force). When the actuator is rotated to the closed position, the cam mechanism pushes the contacts against the FPC conductive traces, establishing reliable electrical connection while simultaneously clamping the FPC in place. The top-contact configuration means the contacts engage the top surface of the FPC, with the actuator on the opposite side. The flip-lock design provides audible and tactile click feedback confirming proper engagement, and the lock remains secure against vibration and shock.
