The Panasonic 6CE220AX is a 22 microF, 10V aluminum electrolytic capacitor from the CE series, designed for general-purpose electronic circuit applications. Housed in a compact radial through-hole package with 5mm diameter and 11mm length, it offers reliable capacitance in a small footprint suitable for consumer electronics, industrial controls, and audio circuits. The CE series provides standard performance with 2000-hour lifetime at 85C and plus/minus 20% capacitance tolerance. The capacitor is polarized with clearly marked positive and negative terminals on the sleeve.

The 6CE220AX uses an etched aluminum foil anode with an electrochemically grown aluminum oxide dielectric layer. The cathode consists of a second aluminum foil in contact with a liquid electrolyte impregnated in separator paper. When DC voltage is applied (anode positive), charge is stored at the oxide-electrolyte interface. The etched foil increases effective surface area, enabling 22 microF capacitance in the compact 5mm diameter package. The capacitor is polarized — reverse voltage damages the oxide layer and can cause failure. The ESR and leakage current are determined by the electrolyte conductivity and oxide quality.
