The B72530E1170K062 from TDK is an automotive-grade 170VDC bidirectional multilayer transient voltage suppressor (MLTV) in a compact 0603 chip package. AEC-Q200 qualified, it provides 500W peak pulse power dissipation with sub-nanosecond response time for ESD and surge protection on automotive signal lines. The bidirectional characteristic protects against both polarity transients, while low capacitance (~15pF) preserves signal integrity on high-speed lines.

The B72530E uses TDK multilayer varistor (MLV) technology with ZnO-based ceramic semiconductor material in a surface-mount chip format. Below the working voltage, the device presents very high impedance with minimal leakage current. When a transient exceeds the breakdown voltage, the device impedance drops dramatically, clamping the voltage and diverting surge current. The bidirectional construction provides symmetric clamping for both polarity transients. The multilayer structure distributes energy for high peak power capability in a small footprint.
