The ECA1VM221BJ from Panasonic is a 220pF ±5% MLCC with C0G (NP0) dielectric in a through-hole radial package, part of the ECA series. The part numbering: ECA=Panasonic MLCC series, 1V=0805 equivalent chip in radial form, M=type, 221=220pF (22×10¹pF), B=C0G/NP0 dielectric, J=±5% tolerance. The C0G/NP0 Class I dielectric provides the best stability of any ceramic dielectric: 0±30ppm/°C temperature coefficient, no DC bias effect, no aging, and low dissipation factor. The through-hole radial package is convenient for prototyping and legacy PCB designs. The 220pF value with ±5% tolerance is commonly used as a crystal oscillator load capacitor and in RF tank circuits.

The ECA1VM221BJ uses a C0G (NP0) Class I ceramic dielectric based on a titanium dioxide (TiO₂) or neodymium-doped composition, which has a linear and predictable temperature coefficient near zero. Unlike Class II barium titanate ceramics, C0G ceramics do not exhibit ferroelectric behavior, meaning there is no DC bias effect (capacitance is independent of applied DC voltage) and no aging (capacitance does not decrease over time). The multilayer construction with alternating inner electrodes provides the 220pF capacitance. The ±5% tolerance (J grade) is tighter than the ±10% typical of X7R capacitors, making it suitable for precision applications.
