The ETQP4M4R7YFP from Panasonic is a 4.7µH metal alloy power inductor from the ETQP4M series, designed for high-current DC-DC converter applications. The metal alloy core material provides low core loss at high frequencies, high saturation current, and excellent DC bias performance compared to ferrite-core alternatives. The shielded construction minimizes magnetic radiation. With low typical DCR of approximately 15mΩ, the device achieves high converter efficiency in automotive and industrial power applications.

The ETQP4M4R7YFP uses a metal alloy (iron-based) powder core compressed around the winding. Unlike ferrite cores that saturate abruptly, metal alloy cores exhibit a soft saturation characteristic where inductance rolls off gradually with increasing DC bias current. This soft saturation allows the inductor to maintain useful inductance well beyond the rated current, providing design margin in transient conditions. The low core loss at high switching frequencies (500kHz-2MHz) reduces temperature rise and improves converter efficiency.
