The EVQQ2Y03W operates as a momentary tactile switch. When the actuator button is pressed, the internal metal dome contact (typically stainless steel) deforms and snaps into its inverted position, making electrical contact between the two terminals. The dome’s snap action provides the characteristic tactile ‘click’ feedback that users feel when pressing the button. The snap mechanism also ensures rapid contact make/break, minimizing contact bounce time. When the pressing force is released, the dome returns to its original shape, breaking the contact. The 0.25 mm travel distance is the total displacement from the rest position to full actuation. The 1.57N operating force is the force required to cause the dome to snap — this is the force the user feels as the ‘click’. The contact resistance of maximum 100 mOhm ensures reliable signal transmission. The sealed construction uses a polymer film or tape to cover the actuator opening, preventing contaminants from reaching the dome contact area during wave soldering or cleaning processes.
