The FSS1500NST from Honeywell is a piezoresistive force sensor with ~1500g measurement range and ratiometric output in a compact SMD package for medical and industrial force sensing.

The force sensor uses a silicon diaphragm with ion-implanted piezoresistive strain gauges in a Wheatstone bridge configuration. When force is applied to the sensor post, the diaphragm deflects, causing strain in the piezoresistors. The resistance change unbalances the bridge, producing a differential voltage output proportional to the applied force.
