The LM3880 is a simple 3-rail power sequencer that provides controlled power-up and power-down sequencing of multiple voltage rails. When enabled, three open-drain output flags are sequentially released with fixed time delays, allowing connected power supplies to start in order. During power-down, the outputs follow the reverse sequence to avoid latch-up conditions. The -1AE suffix defines a specific timing and sequence configuration set at the factory via EPROM. The open-drain outputs can be pulled up to different voltage rails (up to VDD + 0.3V), providing flexibility in interfacing with various enable logic levels. Multiple LM3880 devices can be cascaded to sequence up to 9 rails.

The LM3880 operates as a state machine controlling three open-drain output flags (FLAG1, FLAG2, FLAG3). Each open-drain output, when released, allows the external pull-up resistor to drive the connected power supply enable pin high.
