The PESD15VS2UT from Nexperia is a unidirectional dual-channel ESD protection diode housed in a SOT-23 surface-mount package. Designed to protect up to two signal lines simultaneously, it features a 15V reverse standoff voltage that makes it ideal for RS-232 and other higher-voltage communication interfaces. The device achieves ultra-low reverse leakage current of less than 20nA, minimizing power drain in always-on circuits. With 30kV ESD protection (IEC 61000-4-2) and 160W peak pulse power handling, it provides robust transient suppression. AEC-Q101 qualification ensures suitability for automotive applications including CAN bus and industrial communication networks.

1. Dual-Line Architecture: The SOT-23 package contains two independent TVS diodes sharing a common ground pin (pin 3). Pins 1 and 2 each connect to a separate protected signal line, while pin 3 connects to the system ground.
2. Standoff Mode: During normal operation, both diodes are reverse-biased below the 15V standoff voltage. The ultra-low leakage (<20nA) ensures minimal impact on signal integrity and negligible power consumption. 3. Avalanche Clamping: When a transient exceeds the breakdown voltage (~17.6V), the diode enters avalanche breakdown, conducting the surge current to ground and clamping the line voltage to 40V maximum at 5A. 4. ESD Response: The fast-acting silicon avalanche technology responds within sub-nanosecond timescales to ESD events, clamping the transient before it can damage protected ICs.
