The SN74LVC1G14 is a single Schmitt-trigger inverter designed for 1.65-V to 5.5-V VCC operation from Texas Instruments. The Schmitt-trigger input provides different threshold levels for positive-going and negative-going signals, creating hysteresis that significantly improves noise immunity compared to standard inverters. This makes the device particularly useful for squaring up slowly rising or falling signals, debouncing mechanical switches, and cleaning up noisy digital signals in space-constrained applications.

The SN74LVC1G14 inverts the logic level at its input (Y = NOT A) while providing hysteresis through the Schmitt-trigger input stage. The positive-going threshold (VT+) is higher than the negative-going threshold (VT-), creating a dead band where noise on the input signal cannot cause output oscillation. When the input rises above VT+, the output switches low; when the input falls below VT-, the output switches high. This hysteresis mechanism ensures clean, single transition outputs even with slow-moving or noisy input signals.
