The DG408LEDY-T1-GE3 from Vishay Siliconix is an 8-channel single-ended CMOS analog multiplexer designed to connect one of eight inputs to a common output as determined by a 3-bit binary address. Built on a 44 V silicon-gate CMOS process, it features low on-resistance of 100 ohm, low charge injection of 20 pC, and fast transition time of 160 ns. The break-before-make switching action protects against momentary crosstalk between adjacent channels. An enable function allows stacking multiple devices for expanded channel count. All control inputs are TTL-compatible over the full operating temperature range.

The DG408 uses CMOS transmission gates to implement the 8:1 multiplexer function. Each channel consists of a parallel N-channel and P-channel MOSFET pair that forms a bidirectional analog switch. The 3-bit address decoder selects one of eight channels to close, connecting the selected input to the common output. The break-before-make circuitry ensures the currently conducting channel opens before the new channel closes, preventing momentary short circuits between inputs. The enable input, when low, opens all channels regardless of the address. The epitaxial layer prevents latchup under overvoltage conditions.
