The MCP1824T-0802E/OT is a 300mA CMOS Low Dropout regulator from Microchip with a fixed 0.8V output, specifically designed for sub-1V rail regulation in modern processors, FPGAs, and low-voltage digital circuits. With an input range of 2.1V to 6V and typical dropout of 200mV, it efficiently generates 0.8V from 1.2V or 1.8V input rails. The power-good output with built-in delay provides sequenced power-up indication, while shutdown control reduces current to below 0.1μA. The SOT-23-5 package offers a compact footprint for space-constrained applications.

The MCP1824 is a CMOS LDO regulator using a P-channel MOSFET pass element. Unlike bipolar LDOs, the CMOS pass element has negligible ground current independent of output load, maintaining 120μA quiescent current across the full 300mA output range. When the output voltage drops below the regulated threshold (0.8V ±2.5%), the error amplifier drives the pass gate harder to increase output current. The power-good comparator monitors the output and asserts the PWRGD pin after an internal delay when the output reaches 90% of the nominal value. Current limit and thermal shutdown protect against fault conditions.
