The TPS563210A is a 3A synchronous step-down converter featuring TI’s D-CAP3 control mode for superior transient response without external compensation. It integrates low-RDS(on) 55mΩ high-side and 33mΩ low-side MOSFETs, achieving high efficiency across the full load range. With a 4.5V to 17V input and 0.6V to 7V adjustable output, it is ideal for point-of-load regulation from 12V or 5V bus architectures. The 600kHz switching frequency and D-CAP3 architecture allow a compact solution with only four external power components.

The TPS563210A uses TI’s D-CAP3 control mode, an adaptive on-time architecture with emulated internal ripple injection for stability without external compensation. The on-time is proportional to the input voltage to maintain near-constant switching frequency. When the FB pin voltage drops below the 0.6V internal reference, a new on-time pulse initiates. The integrated low-side MOSFET provides synchronous rectification during the off-time, improving efficiency compared to diode rectification. At light loads, auto-skip mode allows the low-side MOSFET to remain off when the inductor current reaches zero, preventing reverse current flow and improving efficiency. Overcurrent protection is implemented via cycle-by-cycle valley current limiting sensed through the low-side MOSFET RDS(on).
