The EM4095HMSO16B+ is an integrated 125 kHz RFID reader analog front-end IC from EM Microelectronic in an SOIC-16 package, designed for proximity RFID read/write systems. It integrates the antenna driver, AM modulator, AM demodulator, and PLL system requiring no external quartz crystal. The device supports all common 125 kHz transponder protocols (EM4100, EM4102, EM4200, EM4450, EM4205/EM4305) and communicates with a host microcontroller via a simple parallel interface. Operating from a 5 V supply with 1 uA sleep mode current, it is RoHS compliant and rated for -40 C to +85 C operation.

The EM4095HMSO16B+ operates as a 125 kHz RFID reader front-end by generating a continuous carrier signal that energizes passive transponder tags through the antenna coil. A built-in PLL system automatically locks the carrier frequency to the antenna resonant frequency, eliminating the need for a quartz crystal reference. The antenna driver outputs (ANT1 and ANT2) drive a resonant LC antenna circuit at 125 kHz, creating an electromagnetic field that powers nearby transponders. When a transponder modulates its load (amplitude-shift keying or phase-shift keying), the change in the antenna field is detected by the EM4095 receiver. The received signal is amplified, filtered, and demodulated using synchronous detection referenced to the carrier. The demodulated data appears as a serial bitstream at the DEMOD_OUT pin for MCU decoding. The MOD pin allows the MCU to modulate the carrier for writing to read/write transponders by switching the antenna driver on and off (100 percent ASK modulation). The SHD (shutdown) pin enables the MCU to power down the reader between polling cycles, reducing current to 1 uA. The RDY/CLK output provides a clock signal synchronized to the antenna driver, useful for timing the demodulated data sampling.

EM4095HMSO16B+ is a 125-134kHz RFID read/write analog front-end from EM Microelectronic in SOIC-16. The EM4095P16B+ is the DIP-16 through-hole version. EM4325 provides an integrated reader + transponder solution. The TMS3705A from TI offers similar 134.2kHz FDX-B reader functionality. For 13.56MHz HF RFID, MFRC522 from NXP provides ISO 14443 A/B reader capability. The EM4100 protocol compatibility enables reading of widely available EM4100/EM4102 transponder cards.
