The EPCOS/TDK B59219J0130A020 is a PTC inrush current limiter from the B59219J series, providing self-resetting inrush current protection for high-voltage industrial and automotive applications. With 100 Ohm cold resistance and a maximum working voltage of 560VAC / 800VDC, this device limits startup surge currents in frequency converters, on-board chargers, and industrial power supplies. AEC-Q200 certification ensures automotive-grade reliability, while the PBT plastic housing provides mechanical protection and electrical insulation.

The B59219J0130A020 PTC inrush current limiter uses a polycrystalline ceramic material with a high positive temperature coefficient. At power-on, the device is at ambient temperature with 100 Ohm resistance, limiting the peak inrush current drawn by downstream capacitors and rectifiers. As current flows through the device, Joule heating raises its temperature, causing the resistance to decrease to a fraction of its cold value and minimizing steady-state power loss. If an overcurrent condition occurs, the device temperature rises above the Curie point, causing a dramatic resistance increase that limits the fault current. When the fault is cleared, the device cools and returns to its low-resistance state.
